The New Surface Pro, Best Surface Yet?

Surface Pro

The new Surface Pro was released this week. Following closely on from the Surface Laptop release of last month.

Incase people are confused this is technically the follow on from the Surface Pro 4, which you think would be called the Surface Pro 5. However, Microsoft are confident that this is their best Surface product yet and have called it just the Surface Pro.

Interior and Exterior

Does the new Surface Pro live up to its name though? Well from the exterior you’d be right to say not much has changed. The kickstand on the Surface extends so it can now lie flatter. The keyboard is covered with Alcantara fabric like the new Surface Laptop. The Surface Pen no longer comes in the box, but will be sold separately. However, it’s the interior where Microsoft have focused with the managing director, Panos Panay saying that,

“There are about 800 new custom parts in the new Pro.”

The new Surface comes with 7th-generation Intel Core processors—either in the m3, i5 or i7 depending on the model. Microsoft have introduced a fan-less design making this the quietest Surface yet while also managing to improve battery performance by 50 percent. Resulting in a 13.5 hour battery life.

Is it the best Surface yet?

According to an article with Forbes, Yusuf Mehdi, Corporate VP of the Windows and Devices Group has said that this new Surface is about Microsoft’s core mission

“to enable everyone to achieve more.”

Which we think the Surface Pro does through a combination of power, design and price. It will be installed with the Windows 10 Creators Update, with pricing starting at €959.

You can pre-order it from Microsoft now. However, it won’t be released and shipped till the 15th of June.
