The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) is paying €2 million to renew an existing contract with a Dublin-based IT provider.

Under the terms of the agreement, Typetec will continue in the role as RCSI’s IT partner for the next three years, having worked with the college for more than two decades.

It will provide general IT support services to the RCSI and, under a one-to-one laptop programme, will also support more than 2,000 student laptops.

It will continue to operate a workshop and helpdesk facility in the RCSI’s headquarters on St Stephen’s Green and a unit in Beaumont Hospital’s research facility, employing 10 Typetec staff.

It will also manage the network infrastructure for RCSI facilities on St Stephen’s Green, in Beaumont Hospital and the Rotunda.

Typetec Chief Executive Paul Dooley described the contract as a “key milestone” in his company’s business relationship with the RCSI.

“The latest agreement with RCSI is testimony to our strong record in the delivery of innovative IT managed services and product solutions by our skilled and trusted team of people,” said Dooley.

“The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland has a progressive culture with innovation at the core of its role in extensive education and training in the healthcare profession.”

Typetec is an Irish-owned provider of IT products and services. The company employs 42 people and has revenues of €13.5 million.
