The new Microsoft Surface Laptop is out. Not only that, but Microsoft have released a new software to go along with it, Windows 10S. We’ve got all the details for you including date release, price and specs.

The Surface Laptop is available to pre-order now, with in-store availability and delivery scheduled for June 15th, 2017.


The basic model of the Surface Laptop with 128GB, Intel Core i5 and 4GB of RAM will set you back €1,169 including VAT. The most expensive model with 512GB, Intel Core i7 and 16GB of RAM will cost you €2,549 including VAT.


This is Microsoft answer to the MacBook Air, focusing on the education sector. In a statement from the CVP of Microsoft Surface, Panos Panay said,


“Students are asking for a laptop. They’re asking for a Surface Laptop”


The Surface Laptop is incredibly lightweight, with a very slick and futuristic look to it. The basic model is not overly powerful but still has a kick to it.


Here’s a look at the promised spec and details from the launch in New York on the 2nd of May.

  • Battery Life: 14.5 hrs
  • Display: 13.5 inch PixelSense LCD touchscreen display with a 3:2 aspect ratio.
  • Colours: Platinum, Burgundy, Cobalt Blue and Graphic Gold.
  • Size and Weight: Size ranges between 9.9m and the front to 14.47mm at the back. It weighs 2.76 lbs.
  • Processor: 7th generation Intel Core i5 or i7.
  • Design Features: Clam-shell alluvium finish. Alcantara-covered keyboard. Touch screen works with Surface Pen. USB port. Surface power connector. Mini DisplayPort. No USB Type C.
  • Sound is integrated beneath the keyboard so that audio is projected vertically from behind the keys.
  • Software: Windows 10 S this has been integrated to only run apps from the Windows store and seen as a safer and more accessible version of the Windows 10.
