At Typetec, we adopted a remote working strategy just over two years ago. For many of you, today is the first time that you are embarking on this new way of work due to the Covid-19 situation. I want to offer you some advice based on my own experience: Labels Rather than saying that you are "Working from Home" use the terms "Remote Working" or "Smart Working" instead. You are not just sitting at home on the couch in your PJs. Work as Normal Just like any other working day, get up, get dressed and have your office space set up as you would in the office so that there are no barriers to getting started with your day. We encourage you to either use the kitchen table or dedicated home office as your workspace if available. Don't sit on the couch and try to avoid getting lost in the infinite scrolling on your mobile phone. Take a Break Whether you're at work or home, it's essential to take a break! Go out for lunch or take time to sit with your family and enjoy quality time away from the laptop. Even take the time to go out for a brisk walk to clear your head. Shop Local These are very challenging times that we're living in, help your local businesses and community by shopping in their shops - coffee, food - we can all do our bit to help. Productivity You may be surprised, but our team have observed increased productivity as a result of remote working. The Environment Revel in the fact that you are reducing your carbon footprint as a result of working from home. Family Time I mentioned it above, but as a result of a reduced commute time and the kids being at home, this is the time to enjoy some extra quality family time so embrace it and make memories. Microsoft Teams One of the secrets to our success with the roll out of remote working has been the use of Microsoft Teams. This platform allows us to collaborate with our team no matter where we are in the country.
